It’s the time of the year when everyone gets free Ben & Jerry!!! Interestingly, this year’s Free Cone Day is on tomorrow (23 March 2010). I thought it was usually somewhere in mid or late April? Oh well, who cares? So long as there is free Ben & Jerry!!! Woohoo!

Ben & Jerry Free Cone Day

Actually, I don’t know why I’m so excited about the Free Cone Day. Perhaps a typical SINGAPOREAN’s reaction for freebies. I never queue up for Free Ben & Jerry. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan quality ice creams. It’s just that I’m lazy to queue up *hate queues*. I usually pay for my own Ice Cream and enjoy it without long queues.

Since now that I just work next door to The Cathy, there’s no way, I can miss to grab a cone *temptations*, but if the queue is long, I’d rather give myself a good lunch tomorrow. 😀

The answer is simple

I was Google-ing to know whether Friendster was still surviving in the social networking market and bumped into the following yahoo answer. I had a good laugh when I read the best answer. Well, that was a very obvious answer. If I had an opportunity to answer the disappointed Friendster, I would have just wrote the same as the answer voted to be the best. Hahaaaa. To add on to the laughter, there is even a Friendster fan page in Facebook. Hahaaaaa.

Facebook makes our online stay worthwhile. I definitely made a smart choice by dumping my Friendster into the trash bin 4 years ago. Since than, I’ve been a loyal “Facebook-er” (for a billion reasons). 🙂

Monday Blues

Monday – I wonder why there is a term for this day – Monday blues. Could it be that you get too sick for all the things you do over the weekend that you get “blue” on Monday? Or, could it be that you are so sick of facing a new working day that you feel “blue”?

I wish upon with my magic wand for it to be Friday tomorrow. *swirls around the pen*

Professional’s help

The cleanser works!!!!! It has been about 15 hours since I washed away the cleanser and my face is still glowing and feels smooth. I’ve applied a dry foundation today and I didn’t look like a goose :D. I dozed off after a phone conversation with Siddique, so I did not try the facial mask. I will be giving it a try tonight though. The cleanser is a must try for everyone. The facial mask is for women with dry skin, but the cleanser and by tried by anyone.

Since there wasn’t a cooking olive oil at home yesterday, I substituted it with a olive oil I use for my hair. The rose water and my olive oil over powered the smell of egg yolk. No one will be able to guess that the main ingredient for the cleanser was from an egg as it smelled heavenly. The olive oil helped to wash off the cleanser with ease (application of egg alone on the face will get too dry to clean after). I used Ginvera Marvel Gel with Green Tea to wash off the oil as it will help remove my dead skin cells as well, damped my face with a dry towel and looked at myself in the mirror. The results were instant & obvious.

I emailed a make-up artist yesterday to get a more professional advise for my skin problem and just received her reply. She thinks the reason for my drying skin is because of my working conditions. Anytime you are in a cold area for long periods of time, its bound to get your skin dry. I wear foundation everyday. And he suggested me to switch to a more creamy foundation. Her current favourite is the one from MakeupForever.

Mac Pan Stick Foundation

She also advised me to try to use a moiturizer so my skin would get enough moisture it requires. And to buy water sprays or fixsprays. These sprays can be sprayed through out the day ON TOP of makeup to help dry skin.

Evian Mist

MAC Fix+

And with all the suggestions, it’s time for shopping. 😀

Beauty is fragile

Dry skin is uncomfortable. I am going through such an uncomfortable period now. When you have dry skin, especially on your face, your skin can feel tight and leathery. I see patches of dry skin and it looks so ugly with this goose alike outlook when i bring my face near to a mirror. Though these patches are not itchy or painful they periodically get red and sort of inflamed. I am really having hard time dealing with this. This has lately become a problem regarding my self-esteem as I have to interact with my colleagues often.

Being an Indian and a huge Indian natural remedy fan, I’m going to try some home remedies before purchasing a high quality, hydrating skin lotion. I found some facial recipes online, which I will be trying at home before and after work from today.

These two facial masks include simple ingredients in our kitchens, making them affordable  for everyone. Singapore has been burning hot lately. Hence, I thought these recipes will help those sharing a similar problem with me. 🙂

Morning Skin Cleanser/Rejuvenator:

Every morning 15 minutes before taking your bath

1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon orange juice
1 teaspoon olive oil
few drops of rose water and
few drops of lime juice

Mix the above ingredients together and apply on your skin

Beauty Mask for Dry Skin

1 egg
1 teaspoon of honey,
1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and
few drops of rose water

Mix the ingredients thoroughly and use as a mask.

I am planning to get a Vaseline Intensive Care Renew & Protect if I don’t see any improvements to my skin condition. There are several causes for the skin to dry. Our face has very sensitive skin, and to stop having dry skin on our face, we’ll need to moisturize it with a proper facial lotion. I’ve read and heard quite a number of good reviews about Vaseline. Therefore, Vaseline Intensive Care Renew & Protect is my “Plan B”. Do recommend me other good facial lotions too.

Together with the remedies I found, I am also going to hydrate myself. In order to truly moisturize your skin, you must hydrate your body from inside. I only drink a glass of warm water after my dinner daily. This can be an obvious cause to my drying skin. Even though I can’t be like Bipasha Basu to drink 10 glasses of water daily, I’ll force down at least 6 to 8 cups a day to keep my skin supple. I’ll update on whether the remedies helped my skin to be healthier soon.

While awaiting to embark a new journey

I have proudly completed the journey to attain a good diploma, and now, I’m eagerly waiting for the final semester results (FYP & Internship). Only with a good diploma, i will be able to secure a seat in a local University.

I have not thought about a “Plan B” if I do not get accepted into any of the two Universities I have applied for. And understanding the fact that only 20% from all 5 Polytechnics enter the 3 local Universities, I’ve began working already ($$$). Haha. I just didn’t want to be slacking at home.

For the past 3 years, my life had been busy with school, examinations, projects and assignments. And all of a sudden to just sit home and become a couch potato for the next 5 months seemed like a nightmare to me. The obvious way to escape a nightmare is to not sleep. I gave myself a week of break after my internship with a school to settle with my University application and portfolio. And now, I am back to the same school to help out the IT department. 🙂

It was a great experience working as an intern in a school’s IT department. The school officially began operating in this new campus beside The Cathy in January. The old campus (old site of Lasalle at Goodman Road) was bigger. The new campus is now taller. The students never fail to greet any teachers or staff and the staff always wear a smile when we have eye contacts. I learnt so much during my internship and am looking forward to the next 5 months with School of the Arts (SOTA).

🙂
